Skin Cancer or Just A Mole?

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and in an effort to help spread awareness, Dr. Palm was asked by Glamour Magazine to share not only her knowledge but also photos of her patients’ skin cancers for an article in their May 2017 issue.  As this can often be a confusing and sometimes scary topic, Dr. Palm is passionate about breaking down the information in an effort to educate as many people as possible and encourage patients to be proactive when it comes to their health.

While getting skin checks at least once per year is imperative, there are signs and symptoms that can be cause for concern. Here, Dr. Palm breaks down the differences between what is “normal” and what is cause for a visit to your board-certified dermatologist.

Normal moles develop through our mid- to late-20s, and any moles that develop beyond this point in time should be evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist.

Dr. Melanie Palm offers free skin cancer screenings in San Diego for Skin Cancer Foundation

Skin Cancer Foundation member and Amonette Circle member Dr. Melanie Palm will offer free skin cancer screenings this Saturday, August 17th from 1 to 4 pm.  Here are the event details below:

      Skin Cancer Foundation "Road to Healthy Skin Tour" mobile unit with San Diego Dermatologist Dr. Melanie Palm Where:  Rite Aid, Store # 5622, 7100 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92011 When:  Saturday, August 17th, 1-4 pm     Interested North County San Diego residents can receive a free skin cancer screening on the mobile bus by Dr. Melanie Palm on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The location of this San Diego skin check screening is conveniently located in Carlsbad near the surrounding North County San Diego communities if Oceanside, Encinitas, Del Mar, Poway, La Jolla, Carmel Valley, Cardiff by the Sea, and Solana Beach.   Dr. Melanie Palm, Director of Art of Skin MD, offers her skin expertise at this event as she has annually at the Art of Skin MD SolSearch event.  At this annual event.
