Restylane® Defyne

Restylane® Defyne Filler Injections

Non-surgical Wrinkle Treatment in the San Diego Area

What is Restylane Defyne?

Restylane® Defyne is manufactured by one of the largest and most respected dermatology companies in the world, Galderma; which is owned by Nestle Skin Health. Defyne is a hyaluronic acid filler from the Restylane family of products. Defyne is used for the correction of deeper wrinkles of the face such as nasolabial folds (smile lines). Restylane® Defyne is designed with XpresHAn Technology to help soften laugh lines (nasolabial folds and marionette lines). This can help you restore a more natural look to your face while maintaining your facial expressions while maintaining your natural appearance.

What makes Restylane Defyne different from other hyaluronic acid fillers?

Restylane Defyne is a smooth gel that provides good support of deeper wrinkles. In clinical studies, it was shown to be quite comfortable during injection as numbing medication called lidocaine is mixed into the filler itself. Because of how the hyaluronic acid strands within Restylane Defyne are bonded together, the gel is smooth and integrates well into the area of injection. Also due to its filler structure, Restylane Defyne may provide a longer duration and allow less swelling than some previous fillers used for wrinkle reduction.

Crafted with XpresHAn TechnologyRestylane® Defyne helps smooth out deep laugh lines (nasolabial folds and marionette lines). Using innovative cross-linking technology, Restylane Defyne is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is able to help restore a more youthful, natural-looking appearance, while helping you maintain your natural expressions.

Where can Restylane Defyne be used?

Restylane Defyne is a more robust filler, therefore Dr. Palm uses it to provide structure and support to areas of the face that have lost volume over time. Although FDA-approved for deep wrinkles of the face such as nasolabial folds, there are many uses of the filler beyond smile lines. The marionette folds, the cheeks, jawline, and even the temples may be appropriate areas of Restylane Defyne placement.

Does Restylane Defyne look natural in the face?

Yes. One of the most dreaded fears of patients is looking as though they have an unnatural appearance. Dr. Palm is careful to select the right injectable dermal filler for each patient circumstance. Restylane Defyne integrates into the area of placement extremely well, lending this filler to a very natural result in her expert hands.

Can Restylane Defyne be combined with other fillers or procedures?

Yes, Restylane Defyne may be combined with a multitude of other fillers harmoniously to create a liquid facelift, imparting proper structure and balance to the face to create natural looking rejuvenation. Restylane Defyne is used as a foundational hyaluronic acid filler, addressing deeper volume loss in a manner to other injectable fillers and volumizers such as Restylane Lyft (Perlane)RadiesseVoluma, or Sculptra. Any of these products can be used with finer fillers to accentuate small areas of needed correction or subtle lines.

How much downtime is there following Restylane Defyne treatment?

In Dr. Palm’s experience, there is typically mild to minimal swelling following Restylane Defyne treatment. While individual results may vary, most patients experience minimal to mild swelling for a day or two. Most patients can resume daily social activities same day.

As with any injectable dermal filler, there is a chance of bruising. Dr. Palm may use a cannula technique to minimize this risk, and patients should avoid medications, supplements, and vitamins that thin the blood for one week prior to treatment.

Does Restylane Defyne injection hurt?

There is typically minimal pain during Restylane Defyne placement. Restylane Defyne is manufactured with numbing (lidocaine) pre-incorporated into the filler. Additionally, Dr. Palm takes extra steps to make sure every patient is comfortable during injection. Use of cannulas (blunt-shaped very small tubes) may be used to inject the product instead of needles. Also, topical numbing, ice, and even numbing or dental blocks with lidocaine may be provided to increase patient comfort if desired.

What is the cost of Restylane Defyne?

The price of Restylane Defyne ranges by number of syringes used and the area of product placement.

What are the possible side effects of Restylane Defyne?

The side effects of Restylane Defyne are similar to any other FDA-approved injectable hyaluronic acid filler product. More common and mild side effects following Restylane Defyne include pain during injection, swelling at the site of placement, or a bruise. Extremely rare reactions include allergic reaction to the filler, infection, compression of a nearby vessel causing skin changes, visual disturbances, or stroke. These are very uncommon and should prompt a patient to call the treating physician immediately.

Can Restylane Defyne be combined with other fillers or procedures?

Yes. Restylane Defyne may be used with other hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane or Belotero, or with other injectable fillers such as Radiesse and Sculptra to create a liquid facelift. This describes the use of injectable dermal fillers in restoring facial balance and structure related to aging changes or genetics. Furthermore, injectable fillers may be used in combination with skin tightening devices to further improve facial balance. Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin are often used in conjunction with fillers like Restylane Defyne to relax areas of overactive muscle movement. Lastly, laser or light technology can be used to improve skin texture and tone to complement the volumizing effect of injectable dermal fillers such as Restylane Defyne. Dr. Palm may decide to utilize Restylane® Refyne for your particular needs as well.
