Lichen Sclerosus et Atrophicus

Lichen sclerosus et atrophicus (LS&A) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes lightening and skin thinning in the affected areas. It most commonly occurs in the genital and perianal area, but may occur elsewhere on the body. The skin lesions can be itchy or painful and may cause permanent disfigurement if left untreated. Potent topical steroids are the mainstay of treatment; topical calcineurin inhibitors have also been of some benefit.
