Dr. Melanie Palm and Art of Skin MD — Your Local Board-Certified Dermatologist on Highway 101
Solana Beach’s local cosmetic dermatology practice
Art of Skin MD has been part of the Solana Beach community for years, with our clinical home in the Beachwalk Center at 437 S. Highway 101, Suite 217 — between the Cedros Design District and the Coastal Rail Trail. For many of our Solana Beach patients, there is no drive at all. A morning walk down Highway 101, an errand on Cedros, a stop on the way back from the beach. We are part of the day. Dr. Melanie Palm, a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon, has built this practice deliberately small, intentionally private, and unmistakably clinical — the kind of practice a community can keep.
Why your neighbors choose Art of Skin MD
- Right here on Highway 101. In the Beachwalk Center, walking distance from Cedros, the Coastal Rail Trail, and the beach. On-site parking. No commute.
- Board-certified physician care. Dr. Palm is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon. Every treatment plan is designed by her, and any treatment delivered by a clinical team member is performed under her direct supervision.
- The local derm of record. Many of our patients have been with the practice for a decade or longer. Aesthetic medicine done well is a planned arc over years — not a transaction. We think of our relationship with each patient as a long one.
- Private, unhurried clinical environment. Treatment rooms are quiet. Schedules are spaced. There is no chain-clinic feel, no upsell carousel, no “package of the month.”
- Executive-friendly scheduling. Early-morning and end-of-day appointments are available for working patients.
- KOL-grade clinical depth. Dr. Palm is one of the top five Sculptra physician trainers in the United States, a clinical investigator and national speaker for BTL (the maker of EMSCULPT), and an advisory board member with Allergan, Galderma, Merz, Lumenis, and Lutronic. She has approximately 100 peer-reviewed publications and has been principal investigator on 60+ FDA clinical trials. The newest, best-validated techniques are often available here first — in your home town.
Treatments most requested by our Solana Beach patients
Coastal life shapes what our local patients ask for. Sun exposure is a daily fact. Wellness is a habit, not an event. The most-requested treatments cluster around four themes:

- PRP and ezGel — biologic options
Body contouring and the multi-modal stack

Medical dermatology and skin health
Living at the coast means living in the sun. Many of our Solana Beach patients see Dr. Palm and her team for routine skin examinations, treatment of actinic damage, and preventive skin health — alongside their cosmetic care. We are happy to integrate medical and cosmetic dermatology into a coordinated long-term plan.
What a first visit looks like
Most patients begin with a comprehensive consultation. Dr. Palm or a senior team member will review your health history, examine the areas of concern, listen to what you actually want — and just as importantly, what you do not want — and propose a thoughtful plan. We will discuss timing, sequencing, expected investment, and any honest limitations of what we can offer. You leave with a written plan and the option to schedule when you are ready. There is no pressure.
