Cellutone Cellulite Treatment FAQ

Can I combine Cellutone with other body contouring or tightening procedures?
Absolutely and often the procedure is completed immediately following other procedures for cellulite, skin tightening, or body contouring procedures to enhance results. Some of the following procedures are often combined with Cellutone:

  • Vanquish (noninvasive radio frequency fat removal): Cellutone may help increase fat disruption following treatment, improve circulation and lymphatic flow, and improve overall fat circumference loss following treatment.
  • Exilis (monopolar RF for fat loss and skin tightening): Exilis treatment at deeper settings to target fat may be followed by Cellutone to enhance fat apoptosis, or programmed cell death, leading to elimination of more fat cells with treatment and better treatment outcomes.
  • Accusculpt (laser liposuction): Cellutone may be used not on the same treatment day as Accusculpt but in the weeks following laser liposuction to enhance skin tightening and skin textural improvements as the skin responds to laser treatment.
  • Liposculpture (liposuction performed under tumescent anesthesia): In the healing phase following liposculpture, Cellfina may be recommended starting about 4 weeks after treatment to reduce healing time and enhance overall results.
  • Cellfina (minimally invasive treatment for dimple-like cellulite): Cellfina is an excellent, single treatment procedure for dramatically improving dimple-like cellulite. Cellutone may be used in the weeks following treatment with or without Exilis to further improve skin texture in areas of cellulite.
  • Sculptra (collagen-stimulating injectable for body enhancement): Sculptra, also known as poly-L-lactic acid, is used off the face to rejuvenate the arms, buttocks, and thighs. Cellutone may be used in conjunction with treatment to enhance skin texture or irregularities.

Who is a good candidate for treatment with Cellutone?
Most individuals with unwanted cellulite or fat are reasonable candidates for treatment with Cellutone. It is an extremely well-tolerated procedure best used in conjunction with other skin tightening or cellulite-targeting treatments. Patients with good skin tone and mild bloating in the midsection or abdominal area may benefit from Cellutone treatment alone, as may some patients with fine textural irregularities of the buttocks and thighs categorized as mild cellulite. Proper medical evaluation and patient counseling is important to identify individuals best-suited for Cellutone treatment and to create meaningful treatment success.

What is the Cellutone procedure like?
The Cellutone treatment is brief, usually taking about 7-10 minutes per treatment area. It is not painful. There is a vibration-like sensation during treatment and an audible skin “pattering”-like sound during treatment.

When can I see results from Cellutone?
Cellutone requires a series of treatments. They are usually spaced about 1 week apart, although this may vary, particularly if Cellutone is being completed in conjunction with another treatment such as Exilis. Results may be visible after a few treatments, although skin texture may improve further a few weeks after completing a series of treatments.

How long does the treatment last?
Cellutone results if used alone require periodic maintenance to help improve circulation, lymphatic flow, and tissue manipulation in the area of cellulite. If used in conjunction with a body contouring procedure like Vanquish or liposculpture, results should be long-lasting so long as there are not major weight fluctuations or changes in diet or exercise patterns.

How long does the procedure take?
A single session of Cellutone takes approximately 7-10 minutes per area being treated.

Is Cellutone cellulite treatment painful?
No. Cellutone is a painless procedure and requires no oral medication or topical numbing to be extremely well tolerated. Occasionally, mild itching may follow treatment but resolves quickly.

Is there any downtime following the treatment?
No. This treatment should not interfere with daily activities and patients may immediately resume their normal routine.

Will my skin sag if cellulite is treated?
No. Although Cellutone is not used as a skin tightening treatment, it should not worsen any skin irregularities or skin laxity.

Is there any aftercare following the procedure? Do I need to take time off of work?
There are no strict precautions following the treatment. Patients are asked to refrain from taking blood-thinning medications and supplements during treatment as this may increase the chance of bruising following treatment.
